For Sellers: Seller Representation

If you are considering selling your Active Adult Community home, you have three basic options:

  • Sell it yourself as a “FSBO” (For Sale By Owner),

  • Use a “discount” or “flat-fee” broker,

  • Retain a full service Realtor®.

Because Real Property Management Pros® are full-service Realtors®, nothing I say here about the first two options would (or should) be taken as fully objective advice. I will limit my comments to these homilies:

  • “You can’t get something for nothing.”

  • “There is no such thing as a free lunch.”

  • “You get what you pay for.”

  • “The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the cheap price is forgotten.”

In all seriousness, if you are considering doing a FSBO, it requires knowledge and commitment. It also entails legal and financial risks and probably a lot more work than you may think.
